The phoenix is believed to be a heavenly messenger that appears along with dragons, tortoises, and qilin (a Chinese mythical creature) at auspicious times. It is believed that a wise ruler will appear and the world will appear when the world is at peace. It has a qilin shape in front, a deer in the back, a snake in the neck, a swallow in the jaw, a turtle in the back, a fish in the tail, and a chicken-like beak on its head.
There is a legend that says, ""Where the phoenix appears, it brings harmony and prosperity."" The figure of the phoenix flying away is said to be particularly effective in increasing luck, and is also a symbol of success at work, wage increases and raises, and fulfillment in love.
Already in the Yin Dynasty, it was seen as an important design in bronze ware, and in the Tang Dynasty, it was completed in a splendid form. In Japan, Chinese-style designs can be seen in the dyeing and weaving of the Shosoin treasures and in the designs of other crafts. In the Heian period, it was used as a pattern in various fields such as carriages and furniture.
The chrysanthemum pattern is loved as a symbol of longevity that wards off evil spirits, and has long been used as a happy pattern with the wish of perpetual youth and longevity."
